A Series of Singularities: Mandarina Bavaria
Saltfire Brewing
Date: 21 June 2021
Thus far, I have consumed most of these beers in this series. Opening the can, I get bright citrus and tropical aromas. I used my fancy IPA glass and served the beer around 44 degrees. The pour created a massive three-fingered bright white airy and foamy head with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left gobs of lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 6, straw yellow with a medium golden hue. The clarity is crystal, displaying active carbonation. The beer's appearance is elegant.
The aromas are pineapple, passion fruit, tangerines, toasted crackers, a hint of floral esters, a touch of resin, slight malty sweetness, and a subtle earthiness.
I taste mangos, pineapple, tangerines, toasted crackers, bready, floral esters, a hint of herbal, pine needles, some earthiness, and a touch of grapefruit.
The mouthfeel is astringent and tannic.
The body is medium, has medium carbonation, and has a lasting finish.
Simply a delightful beer. The malt profile is just firm enough to hold the hops without distracting the taste. This hop profile is bright and full of flavors and aromas.
