Howler Hazy
Saltfire Brewing
Date: Unknown
I know this beer is less than a month old; Saltfire usually puts a date on the can. I used my fancy IPA glass, and the temperature is around 46 degrees. The pour created a frothy and airy three-fingered bright white head with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left some lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 4, pale gold with straw yellow highlights. The beer is not near as hazy as I have known for other typical NEIPA.
I smell floral esters, oranges, mangos, pineapple, toasted crackers, and a hint of grapefruit. The aromas of the beer are not as fragrant as one would expect for this beer. I was hoping for something fruity and bright; I did not get that at all.
The flavors are peaches, oranges, mangos, band-aids, pineapple bay leaves, floral esters, a hint of pine and grapefruit. The beer presents itself to me as a hybrid.
The mouthfeel is astringent and dry.
The body is medium, medium-low carbonation, and has a somewhat fuller finish.
I want those fruity flavors and not a combination of WCIPA hop flavors. Saltfire IPA is usually delicious, this is still good, but I wanted something different. Solid beer nonetheless, anyone would enjoy it.
