Sour Gose
I used a stange; the temperature is 42 degrees. The pour created a frothy and foamy white three-fingered head with average retention. The steady dissipation left gobs of lacing on the glass. I was surprised to see some head retention on a Gose. The color charts around SRM 4, pale straw with light golden hues. The beer is brilliantly clear. An excellent showing for this style.
When I pried the top off, I limes essences was emitted. I have never smelled a beer quite like this. I get char, agave, tequila, limes, salt, and lightly toasted crackers. A medicinal herb note that is quite fragrant, like something you get from a Medicine Man to heal your broken soul. When I close my eyes, I feel like I am inhaling a damp stary desert night. Reminds me of Arizona after a rain shower at dusk.
The first sip, I taste yarrow, limes, salt, char, tequila, lightly toasted crackers, and floral.
The mouthfeel is bright, crisp, and refreshing. The body of the beer is light, high carbonation, and bitter yet delightful finish.
I have never had a beer invoke such feelings. My grandfather lived in the southern part of Arizona. I spent many youthful days learning about the ways of the desert, making prickly pear jam one of my fond memories. The beer is made with flawless precision. I love this beer!
