This Imperial Pilsner has in your grapefruit and citrus, with lingering notes of honey and pine that carry through to the flavor. This beer was designed to exhibit clean bitterness and restrained sweetness, giving it a thirst-quenching quality you get from lagers. That combined with the vibrant hops, it will surely find a spot in your cooler all summer long.

The next couple of beers are from Saltfire Brewing, all of which are new to me. I do enjoy what Saltfire Creates, especially its hoppy beers. I am using a pilsner glass and serving the beer at 42 degrees. The pour created a frothy, creamy, airy, three-fingered, white head with above-average retention. The somewhat slow dissipation left chunks of lacing on the glass. The color is straw yellow with a faint golden hue, and the clarity is clear with a few carbonation bubbles bobbing to the surface. The appearance of the beer is above average for this style.
After prying the tab open, I could smell grapefruit, oranges, and floral bouquets. Nosing the glass, I smell crackers, lightly toasted bread, light, malty sweetness, and pine resin. The hop profile is pungent but restrained.
The flavors start with the bold hop profile of herbal, floral blossoms, oranges, grapefruit, white wine musk, pine resins, and earthiness. The big hop profile with the maltiness of crackers, lightly toasted bread, malty sweetness, and honey checks the hops in this yin-yang harmony.
The body is medium-light and has medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is slightly tannic and finishes crisp.
This delicious beer has—a honey-like sweetness weaved through the intense hop profile with a firm yet delicate malt backbone. The hops are more pronounced for a pilsner, but it is refreshing and crisp. The hops are not overly astringent but more controlled—a delightful surprise from SaltFire.
