The next couple of beers are from Saltfire Brewing, which is all new to me. I enjoy what Saltfire Creates; Mobius Trip has always fascinated me, a beer with prickly pear to this Flanders. I am using a tulip glass and serving the beer at 44 degrees. The pour created a frothy, airy, one-fingered, light tan head with average retention. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass. The color is reddish brown with a lovely mahogany red hue charting at SRM 18 and clear with many carbonation bubbles. The appearance of this beer is average for this style.
Nosing the glass, I smell wine, oak, funky barnyard, salty air, light, malty sweetness, lightly toasted malts, lemons, and earthy tones. I smell the beer and detect cherries, oranges, lightly toasted malts, and currants.
The first sip revealed the bright sourness of lemons, tart cherries, funky barnyard, salty air, lightly toasted malts, yeast, floral esters, oak, and vinous. Sipping the beer, I also notice light, malty sweetness, acidic acid, and light orange notes.
The mouthfeel is sour and tart with a crisp finish. The body is medium-light and has high carbonation.
This Flanders Ales aged in Pinot barrels is a delightful sipper. The beer is bright, flavorful, and not overly sour. In Bruges, is one of my favorite Mobius Trips; I have on more to sample later today.
