On this warm February day, I decided to try this hazy pale ale I purchased after Christmas. I am using a pint glass and serving the beer at 42 degrees. The pour created a frothy, airy, foamy, three-fingered white head with above-average retention. The somewhat slow dissipation left chunks of lacing on the glass. The color is light gold with straw yellow hues, charting at SRM 2, and is hazy (duh). The appearance of the beer is above average for this style.
Nosing the glass, I notice strawberries, melons, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, light pine, pineapple, lightly toasted malts, and a hint of honey. Smelling the glass again, I detect a lightly floral, herbal touch of earthiness and light, malty sweetness.
The first sip, I noticed the beer had soft wheat, lightly toasted malts oranges, papaya, pears, pineapple, and a touch of lemon. Sipping the beer again, I taste earthiness, yeasty, light maltiness, honey, and a skosh of pear.
The mouthfeel is soft, finishing dry. The body is light and has medium carbonation.
The only disappointment I have with the pale ale is that the hops are a touch lighter than I would expect. The body of the beer is also thin; nevertheless, the beer is tasty and fresh.
