A:
Pours a semi-clear ruby-amber finger of off white soda head evaporates. No lacing. (3.5)
S:
Candied nuts, slightly fruity yeast aroma, some light roast. (3.75)
T:
Iced tea, light astringency, coffee grounds. (3.5)
M:
Thin, fizzy body with active carbonation and a little astringency to the finish. (3.25)
O:
Ok brown ale.
It is not terrible, but falls flat and doesn't really pop in any one way. Looks passable, ruddy mahogany with little head. The aroma is probably the best part in my mind, fruit cake and weak truck stop coffee. The flavor follows but kind of is dominated by a black tea/hard water character and some roast flavor. It is fairly thin, and drinkable enough, but doesn't really have the substantiveness that great browns do. Wouldn't turn it down, but wouldn't seek it out. (3.5)
