Blueberry Banana Pancake Stout

A: Pours an opaque thick viscous jet black in color with light to moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark chestnut brown + dark cola brown + dark garnet red colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense sudsy foamy tan head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering a little more than 95% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of pancake + bready + caramel + chocolate malts with moderate amounts of caramel + lactose sweetness. Light to moderate aromas of blueberry + banana with a moderate aroma of maple syrup.

T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of pancake + bready + caramel + chocolate malts with moderate amounts of caramel + lactose sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of blueberries + light flavors of banana. Finally there are light flavors of maple syrup in the finish. Minimal amounts of roasty bitterness which is quickly overtaken by the pancakes + syrup flavors which linger in the finish.

M: Just shy of full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with a light amount of alcohol warming in the finish.

O: Drinks pretty easily considering the strength and the alcohol is relatively well hidden with just a hint of warming in the smooth rich mouthfeel. Enjoyable and definitely reminds me of blueberry banana pancakes with some chocolate chips and syrup. Sweet but it would be a decent breakfast or dessert stout.

Appearance: Pours coffee colored with a beige head that fades to a ringlet and archipelago; spots dribble

Smell: Blueberry pancake with a hint of chocolate and a trace of banana

Taste: Blueberry pancake foward with a touch of chocolate; a hint of banana, in the middle but the blueberry is dominant

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Much better than the Strawberry Cheesecake but needs more chocolate and banana flavor as well as a fuller mouthfeel
