Appearance: Pours a very dark brown body. Its initial froth developed upon pouring is instantly dispersed.
Smell: A golden syrup drenched in unforgivingly hot alcohol leaving muted tones of dark malts, barrel char and a faint, quasi fruitiness. Not much else, really.
Taste: It's a shotgun blast of heavily sugary dark maltiness right to the kisser. One must try to look beyond the sugar crystals to glean some modest bits of chocolate, toasted bread, creamed coffee and a vanilla-infused simple syrup bourbon quality. The coconut component is fairly modest, here. It starts with sweetness but ends with a sear of raw alcohol.
Mouthfeel: It's got a sticky yet somewhat thinnish quality. Lightly carbonated.
Overall: I'm sorry, it's just too sweet, too thin and too boozy for my tastes.

Appearance: Pours inky with a slim beige cap; decent retention and some splashy lace
Smell: Bourbon and coconut waft with the roast and chocolate tones supporting
Taste: Chocolate, coconut and a touch of roast forward, with the Bourbon enveloping; vanilla and coconut merge, after the swallow, and build in the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation
Overall: The coconut adjunct here works well and all of the elements complement each other
