Look: It pours black with a brown head. Head retention is very good.

Smell: The aromas are brownie like with coffee and chocolate. There are also some roasted elements a touch of vanilla and very low dark fruits.

Taste: The flavors feature coffee, chocolate, and roast. There is a slight burnt flavor as well with a slight touch of sweetness in the bitter finish.

Feel: It has a medium full body with strong bitterness in the finish.

Overall, strongly malty over all with coffee flavors intermingled. A tad harsh in the finish as far as the bitterness goes.

Dark brown appearance with a moderate foamy tan head that recedes quickly, no lacing. Cinnamon, vanilla, and coffee all very present, fig background, dry finish. Medium to thin body, moderate carbonation.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and just shy of moderate amounts of dark chestnut brown + dark amber + dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a handful of small patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of very slightly mottled thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of cinnamon + coffee and light to moderate aromas of vanilla. Slightly heavier than moderate aromas of roasted + toasted + chocolate + caramel malts with light to moderate amounts of caramel sweetness.

T: Upfront there are slightly heavier than moderate flavors of roasted + toasted + chocolate + caramel malts with light to moderate amounts of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of coffee + cinnamon (which is almost a spicy cinnamon) and light flavors of vanilla. Finally there are light amounts of earthy hops. There are moderate amounts of lingering roasty bitterness and the cinnamon spiciness lingers well through the finish.

M: Just shy of full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with moderate amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a smooth + dry mouthfeel. Enjoyable with lots of cinnamon + cinnamon spiciness and coffee as well as lighter vanilla over a pleasantly complex malt backbone. Very enjoyable - lots of roastiness without lots of sweetness.
