A: Pours an almost completely opaque yet still clear very dark mahogany brown approaching jet black in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate dark cola brown + chestnut brown + dark amber + garnet red + ruby red colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall cream foamy light tan head that reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of toasted + roasted + chocolate + caramel + wheat malts with light amounts of caramel + dark fruit (date) sweetness. Moderate aromas of lager yeast. Light aromas of earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of toasted + roasted + chocolate + caramel + wheat malts with light amounts of caramel + dark fruit (date) sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of lager yeast. Finally there are light flavors of earthy hops. There is a light amount of roasty bitterness which fades away fairly quickly leaving a relatively clean finish.
M: Light to medium bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp initially with a light amount of dryness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly crisp + light mouthfeel though a touch over-carbonated for me. Nice complexity of malt flavors and aromas.
