Appearance: Pours pitch black with a few bubbles settling in around the circumference; very leggy but no lacing
Smell: The distinctive notes from the Weller barrel dominates the aroma; oaky, intense and woodsy with caramel and butterscotch tones
Taste: The oak and caramel join with the Weller Bourbon flavors, up front, with some butterscotch underneath; boozy, through the middle, with the intensity building into the finish
Mouthfeel: Thick bodied with low carbonation
Overall: Let go of your prior assumptions of a BA Imperial Stout, this beer exemplifies the modern approach to an adjunct free BA stout that emphasizes the distinctive characteristics of the Bourbon barrel in which it is aged
