This is not my 1st Frogs Like Possum but it is my 1st from a can. I believe this is the beer that won a Silver medal at last years GABF but there are many offspring of this Possum and some are on scooters and some are liked by frogs but for me they all taste like more.
Beautiful color to this beer, dark mahogany with glints of garnet, a tall, off white rocky head that leaves smears of lace behind. Moderate carbonation visible through a slightly hazy liquid.
Aroma is roasty sweet, some floral hop and more caramelized grain. Alcohol singes the nostrils if you snuff too hard.
The flavor is a no nonsense palate wacker - full on crystal malt sweetness envelops intense hop bitterness in a warm, alcohol soaked blanket. Rich malt character in many forms from roasted to toasted. I taste molasses and charcoal - you know that good char taste from a grilled steak or nearly burnt marshmallow, and grain flavors of rye and john barlycorn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdI057Rs3wY
Full bodied but not heavy, over hopped but not harsh or nasty and highly dangerous in it's drinkability at 9%.
Just a great beer in the Arrogant Bastard style but sweeter and less in your face obnoxious.
This just makes me wonder if I forget what the scooter brings to the table.....

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
