Even judging by the name and adjuncts alone, this has to be the weirdest discount rack beer I've ever found, only $2 for a single. A fruited sour with pineapple, cherries, hazelnut, and lactose to mimic the dessert. I have heard good things about this series, and this is actually my first from Canned Heat, a relatively new brewery just under 30 minutes from me
Pours a slightly cloudy golden yellow with a finger of short-lived white head that fades to a thin ring and leaves no lacing
In the nose I definitely get a sharp difference between the tart and sweet components of this one. I'm picking up on aromas of tart cherry candy, vanilla beans, juicy pineapple, graham-cracker-esque malt, and lime
The clear distinction carries through in the flavor profile, where it starts out sweeter and gradually gets more tart. On the front end, I'm tasting sweet bready malt, vanilla, and a light tingle of lime. The swallow brings notes of pineapple, underripe tangerine, and slightly medicinal cherry
A light medium body is propelled by gentle carbonation allowing this to feel easy drinking despite the adjuncts. Finishes mostly dry with a nice acidity
Yeah, this one was strange. But, against my expectations, it was really tasty and not overbearingly sweet like some pastry sours which I tend to avoid. I'd crush this one again
