No can date
Pours a frothy semi thick creamy 2 finger tan head with good retention, soapy lacing, very dark almost black color
Nose brings roasted malts, Irish stout like roast with a bit of a mineral note that is bordering acrid roast, a little chocolate nougat and spice notes, a hint of like a tangy fruit note, a mild sweet candy bar, faint Irish whiskey and oak notes
Taste brings more roast and more roast, bitter roast that again straddles the acrid like character, plenty of nougat with that which I think often comes from carafa malt, chocolate nougat candy bar but only semi sweet, a mild burnt coffee and fruity character with that, some Irish smooth whiskey in the background, soft shortbread whiskey and a bit of toasted oak, bitter roasted malt and a bit of a bitter spicy hop up front, finishes a bit drier with big spicy hop bitterness lingering and bitter roasted malt
Mouth is fuller bod, fairly creamy, med frothy carb, faint smooth alcohol notes
Overall an interesting beer, I think the base stout gets a bit too much for what it is, this does wander into extra foreign stout Irish stout but seems a bit heavy on the roast overall, the Irish whiskey and oak adds a nice touch though and definitely apparent coming through the extra stout beer
