MARZANNA REBORN 2021 (Baltic Porter w/coffee aged in Bourbon Barrels)

The 2021 release of this beloved barrel-aged Baltic Porter includes the addition of cold-brewed coffee to balance out the warm bourbon characteristics from the fresh bourbon barrel that we obtained from Working Man Distillers in Attleboro, MA.

Natural cask-level carbonation allows for full appreciation of complex notes of coffee, coconut, vanilla, and chocolate roast that become more pronounced as the beer warms.

2021 vintage - 750ml served in a Spiegelau tulip at 55 degrees. Pours the color and clarity of cola with a half inch, tight/fizzy khaki-colored head the quickly disperses into a frothy slick. Nose expresses big notes of cold brew coffee followed by vinous notes in the background. Taste follows nose with the addition of notes of coconut and spirits. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a fizzy carbonation - it comes off a little thin and watery. A decent example of the style but needs more of a malt backbone and more time in the barrel in my opinion.
