It’s been called the most approachable porter in New Mexico, and we’re perfectly happy with that description. For most breweries, porter is a seasonal beer, but not at Beer Creek. We proudly brew this traditional porter year-round in a style that makes it perfectly natural to enjoy in the heat of summer. Rich caramel and chocolate notes meld with toasted oats for a creamy coffee head that floats across the tongue.

Pure dark roasted grain malt aroma, most any regular style Porter or Stout would be glad to give off such an aroma. Quick dying light brown/tan head doesn't really leave any trace on the glass like a lot of dark beers do, but oh well. Dark full blackish coloring without a chance of seeing through this beer unlike some recent porter I've had, I was very happy with the darkness of this offering. Very light heavily roasted grain malts come through in the taste, very light compared with this beers aroma which is still lingering about.

a solid porter here, mellow and fairly smooth even with some trace tannic character as it warms a bit, a nice chocolate depth to it, some cocoa nibs actually in it apparently, but it is decidedly not a dessert beer, which i like, a little bit old school, and im cool with that, my first ever beer from these guys, nice looking can. deep brown with reddish edges and a below average tan head that fizzes and pops on the pour but kind of dies back faster than id like it to. neat nose, chocolate malt and bitter espresso, not overly roasted but that lowest end is there, toffee and caramel character without seeming too sweet, baked and hearty but also light in some ways, loosely english in places too, bready in that way, light on the bittering hops, trace raisin, molasses, maple, smoke, and birch bark, earthy in a cool way, faint astringency as the temperature comes up. the flavor is cocoa and roast and dark bread and good coffee, a little thinner feeling right away than these flavors seem to want, but not watered down, its got its full flavor just not quite enough body to support it. campfire and cola, char and espresso crema, leather and soil, nice depth and minerality, a tad light on the carbonation, but this is an all season porter of some interest, i like the grain build and the addition of the nibs, i like it better a little colder. very approachable porter.

Pours a dark reddish brown color, appears black and opaque in the glass; decent head, a bit thin yet dense and lasting. Faint roasted grains and chocolate notes. Light flavors of cocoa and bitter chocolate; a bit of grain char bitterness. Medium mouthfeel; soft and lightly velvety; a bit of mild sweetness and light dryness.

A decent if somewhat lightweight porter.
