Appearance: Pours a dark, but clear, ruby red and amber color with a strong off white head. SRM of 17. (3.75)
Aroma: Moderate aromas of cocoa and silky nut malts. Smooth cocoa and nuts, but not roasted. There are hints of brown sugar and caramel, but mostly cocoa. (4.00)
Flavor: Mild flavors of cocoa and nuts. Some sweet brown bread and not provide a nice malt profile. The flavor is nice and tamed, slightly watery. Nice and simple malt profile. (3.75)
Feel: Lighter bodied with mild carbonation. No hops allows it to finish mildly sweet. Clean. (3.75)
Compared to Lucky Bucket Brewings Thug Jumper Cocoa Brown Ale 1/1/21: Pours a lighter and more amber color. Stronger aromas of cocoa and nuts. Less dark malt and molasses. More cocoa, caramel, smooth nuts overall. A simpler malt profile but with a milder body and less malt sweetness. Finishes cleaner. (3.75)
Overall: A smooth drinking brown ale. Simple malt profile. Brewed as described with nice cocoa and nut aromas and flavors without being overwhelming at 5.5%. A slightly watery body too makes it easy-drinking. A very easy-drinking brown ale that has delicious cocoa and nut flavors. (Final Rating: 3.81)
