Had at the Westville pub, one beer with dinner. My first chance with All Sevens brewing. I went with the IPA. It was passable and drinkable, but extremely mediocre and forgettable. There are so many better hoppy options, not a great first impression. I would still consider a second chance with this brewery with another style as they had some other options that were tempting, and hopefully wind up with a better second impression.

look - slightly pale golden copper color with no real head or skimming
smell - pine and citrus
taste - a lot like the scent but could use more to the flavor
feel - medium body with a slight carbonation
Overall - I wouldn't recommend this beer

a passable ipa for a rather new brewery, but with all the great hoppy beer around town here, this really doesnt stand out at all, and frankly doesnt even average in well, but they are still getting things figured out in here im sure. its lightly bronze in color, clearish, but without much head on it after the initial pour. some bubbles rising up, but it never collects into a head. the aroma is good, piney hops and a little crystal malt, old school and basic, almost a googled homebrew ipa recipe from the 90s it seems like, but its well enough executed, there is just something weird about the fermentation profile, an estery thing that probably shouldnt be there, maybe fermented too warm, and not real agreeable with the hops, but the hops are nice overall. the flavor is balanced, some sweeter and sturdier grain in here with a light honey note, then a strange almost chemical element to the yeast thats where this goes wrong a little bit, and finally the piney and grapefruity hops later on, well supported by the malt. a trace of alcohol here too which is strange for its average abv. a largely unremarkable beer here, nothing on their list seemed too creative, but fresh beer is fresh beer, and its hard to be overly critical of an operation just getting started. if it still tastes like this a year from now, there is a problem...
