Black, opaque body; thin head yet dense and creamy with sticky rings of foam inside the glass. Nice dark grain smell (reminds me of black patent malt). Light malt base taste; some interesting herbal notes, not too strong, but definitely offsetting the malt character; light hop bitterness. Light to medium in body; soft and velvety; slight sweetness to the mouthfeel yet finishes with a deft dryness on the palate.
A nice, interesting take on a classic German ale style. the Black appearance and flavors add a bit of uniqueness to things.
