Pours a super pale, gatorade like yellow with lots of active carbonation the feeds a thick cloudy head with wonderful retention and excellent legs. The color is a little off putting, with an almost green tint, but otherwise a beautiful beer.
Smells is lightly grassy and herbal with feint citrus blossom notes and a solid butter cracker like malt body. Note that it doesn't smell buttery but like a cracker like ritz or something similar.
Taste has an assertive and clean pale malt flavor with floral and grassy hop notes dancing around the edges, lending a bit of sharpness to contain the malt character. Very nicely balanced and tastes truer to style than the look or smell implied.
Mouthfeel is excellent. Wonderfully crisp without being watery.
Overall this is a tasty brew, it was by far my favorite from visiting their tap room and for a brewery that otherwise dabbles in modern and flashy styles it was pleasantly surprising to find such a clean and simple beer. The brewer described it to several people who asked about it as 'beer flavored beer' and that is certainly a fair description. The hop character is a little more assertive than any imports I've had but that might be somewhat explained by imports age. Either way, lovely summer beer, refreshing and enjoyable.
