Bosque Brewing – Box IPA 6.7% ABV 100+IBU
When I picked up the curved pint glass my first thought was: Wow. The smell had the hoppiness you’d expect from an IPA but this particular beverage had delightful and subtle undertones of malty goodness. Needless to say, the taste was much the same. My first pull was easy with a great balance of toasty, grassy, hoppy goodness upfront, and it ended with a present, but not overpowering, piney bitterness on the side of the tongue. The board in the taproom has 100+IBUs listed for this beer, and I have to disagree. Don’t get me wrong, it is definitely bitter, but not over one-hundred-international bittering-units bitter. This could be for a variety of reasons (maybe their spectrophotometer is broken-yes I had to google that) but hey, the beer still tastes phenomenal 100IBUs or not. This beer was slightly lighter than most IPAs I’ve come across but not unreasonably so. The head was nearly non-existent (due to my glass being filled nearly to the brim-I am totally not complaining.) but it was a nice creamy color, as it should be. Overall, I was surprised by how pleasantly drinkable and refreshing this IPA was. Though I could have used one more to make absolutely sure. :D

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
