11 ounce pour at the Nob Hill Taproom.
Rich and chewy feeling brew. Got a sticky sweetness. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, dark bread, and hints of mineral at the finish. Grassy hops weave in and out and there are some earthy hints.
I like to think of doppelbocks as meals in a glass and this qualifies. Full, creamy, with a quality to the carbonation that makes the drink very filling. Honestly, any more than 11 ounces and I'd keel over from bloatage. Sweetness is potent but doesn't overwhelm here.
This is good. The IPA kings have more tricks up there sleeves than just the hop monsters.
