Where IPAs are skewed toward hops being front and center, blonde ales are a study in balance, refreshment, and malt profiles. 1888 is a brilliant pale straw-colored ale with a light malt sweetness and just enough late-addition hops to add flavor and aromatic nuance. Whether you’re new to craft beer or a seasoned connoisseur, this beer is sure to quench your thirst.

Had on tap. Mostly clear pale yellow body with a finger of white foam. Smell and taste are lead blonde malts and yeast, a hint of honeycomb and lemon zest, and floral hop notes. Taste has a buttery undertone that really makes the stars sing. Feel is medium-light bodied, smooth, and finishes bright. Nice blonde ale

From the can, it pours a clear straw yellow color with a modest, though long lasting, white head. In the nose, it is a bit grassy and maybe a bit malty - very light scent. In the mouth, it is lightly flavored with a touch of hops in the light malt flavor.

Slight chill hazed clear gold colored ale. small white colored head.

Smells malty and mostly of toasted grain. Not much smell though.

Starts out tasting mostly of toasted grain. Mild noble hop flavor, mostly grassy.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall just a plain beer.

12oz can poured into Duvel tulip. Bottom of can printed 09/10/18. Presumably the born-on date? If so, it's only 2 weeks old, so should be nice and fresh. Grabbed it from the grocery store 6pack mixer for $9.99, so they're under $2 a can.

Appearance - Pours massive, very slightly offwhite pancake batter head with slightly hazy gold body. Mild carbonation. Head has decent retention. 4.5

Smell - Mild wet hay and hop profile. Faint honey. Very round bodied. 4.5

Taste - Absolutely delicious and wonderfully balanced. Has a nice little crisp bite up front with citrus rind hoppiness. Faint bitterness in the aftertaste, but is overall incredibly clean. 5

Mouthfeel - Incredibly smooth, refreshing and drinkable. Very mild citrus rind bitterness up front that dissipated into a completely smooth, clean finish. 5

Overall - No off tones anywhere. Absolutely a master class in balance and drink ability. I have no idea how the ratings for this are so average. Possibly one of the most underrated beers I've ever had, and I've had many hundreds. 5

Pretty clear gold color with a modest white head. A bit of lace.
Grassy, floral aroma. Pleasant.
Taste follows the nose.
Light-bodied with a late hop bitterness. Nice enough beer.
