DATE: August 10, 2025... OCCASION: the birthday weekend rolls on, remembering a beer that I had to start the summer, in Gatlinburg... GLASSWARE: Sam Adams lager... pours a fizzing, orange amber body with an inverted waterfall of swirling bubbles.... its off-white head clumps and crags three fingers high, a welcome sight... great head retention earns extra percentage points here!... caramel, baked bread, and pretzel back a pleasing arrangement of hops evoking herbs and forest... some adjunct sweetness in the aroma, which translates to the taste as well... its body is drinkable--a bit thin, and maybe to be expected of an amber at 5% ABV, but refreshing enough on this warm summer day... it starts with a little turn at the teeth and finishes with a smooth, swift quenching... upon the third sip, some creaminess can be detected, adding to the experience... caramel, bread, candy corn, light nuttiness, butter, and herbs make this an amber that could be in for the long haul, but one that might not entertain in small doses...
