650ml bottle - another rural Alberta town, another rural Alberta brewery. S'ok, right?

This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some thick, streaky lace around the glass as it lazily sinks away.

It smells of gritty and grainy caramel malt, a lesser biscuity toffee sweetness, muddled domestic citrus rind, a hint of damp minerality, and more leafy, musty, and piney green hop bitters. The taste is grainy and crackery pale malt, still muted orange and red grapefruit citrus rind, wet stone paths after a hard rain, and more earthy, weedy, and resinous piney verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its palate-satiating frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, with nothing really getting in the way of so-so time at this particular juncture. It finishes off-dry, the malt pretty much running the lingering racket.

Overall - this comes across as a pleasant enough iteration of some version of the pale ale style, falling somewhere between traditional and NEPA, FWIW (if we're not splicing acronyms or metaphors here). At any rate, crisp, and easy to put back on a suddenly sunny and enjoyable late summer afternoon.
