Drank on tap at Boxelder, Miami, FL
Served in a nonic
Viscous, near pitch black appearance. The oily looking body was topped by a barely-there film of mocha colored froth that quickly dissolved. No lacing whatsoever.
The aroma was amazing. Super sweet and punchy with huge caramel notes. Loads of rich chocolatey goodness too. Bit of coffee as well. Roasted malts were noticeable in the background, along with some creamy lactose and vanilla. As the beer warmed, the mocha and caramel presence definitely intensified.
The flavor profile was also really intense, though not quite as rounded or as smooth as the nose. Again, the caramel came through strong. Loads of rich, robust, roasted maltiness up front. Big mocha presence in the center. Nice melding of fudgey, dark chocolate and medium roast coffee. Bit of sweet cream and vanilla too. More roast on the back end and the finish. Flash of ashiness and lingering boozy/bourbon heat after the swallow.
Outstanding mouthfeel. Incredibly dense and creamy, like heavy whipping cream. The liquid contained an ultra fine, fairly subtle effervescence that gave the beer a fantastic frothy slickness on the palate.
Salted Caramel Caffè Americano is an insanely rich and decadent pastry stout that would make a perfect substitute for dessert. I had never heard of Corporate Ladder Brewing Company prior to my trip to Miami, but I will definitely remember their name long after I leave.
