When is a smoothie beer not a beer? When its gluten free. Pieced and parted together with elements of a seltzer base and then those smoothie pantry flavors of cinnamon, cayenne, mango and ice cream, this Frankenstein of a beer has a little something for everyone.
Neon green and highly viscous at its pour, Frankenstein's radioactive appearance isn't complete until its even more neon lime green crown floats to the rim. A plump, tangy and radiant scent of citrus, tropical fruit, melon and spice rise to the nose, all wrapped in a cocoon of heavy whipping cream and french vanilla. Cloyingly sweet with the first sip, the fruit punch flavors are equipped with table sugar, sweet cream, candied fruit and mild sugar.
With the heavy sweetness and marshmallowy textures holding serve through the middle palate, a mild tartness tries to balance the sweetness with the fruit flavors of under ripened mangoes providing a tangy tropical taste woven into that of lime, lemon, papaya and gooseberry nuances. A hit of cinnamon and capsaicin offers a heated reprieve from the sugars in a warming late taste.
Heavy in its body, the lingering tartness and heat outlasts the sweetness marginally in a decadent and dessert-like taste that registers on the aftertaste like mangonada chamoy and spiked punch.
