Seeing through the haze and crashing into a world of cold, Corporate Ladder's Cold Call splits the difference between the clean bitterness of IPA and the dry refreshment of pilsner for cold call that's easy to answer anytime.
Nearly bright golden-straw, Cold Call comes calling with teeming bubbles and a frothy stark-white foam. As the head settles, a hoppy array of citrus, light tropical and botanical perfumes decorate the nose. With the dry malt sweetness carrying onto the middle palate, the early impressions of honeysuckle, wafer and light bread set a crisp malt tone.
The sweetness dissolves fairly rapidly from the middle palate as the hops rush in with younger impressions of orange, white grapefruit and lemon peel. As hints of apple and pear add a slim margin of juiciness, the beer quickly fades into sharply bitter balance with grassy, piney, peppery and citrusy flavors dominating the finish.
Light, crisp and highly refreshing, the clean dryness of the malts allow the hops to shine in all their bitter glory, but also in a peppery and tannic taste that's largely disguised by the green bitterness. Finishing with suggestions of peppery hemp, the ale trails into a citronella aftertaste.
