Sweet, savory and truly seductive for the tastebuds, the nearly reckless additions of caramel, vanilla wafers and coconut would be enough to sell a taste of German chocolate cake, the brewers of Corporate Ladder goes ahead and lays this stout down in bourbon barrels for that special adult charm.
Barrel Aged Fatal Conceit pours with a rich and inky black color coat of the glass. As dark and devious as the beer appears, its scent is seduces the senses with ease. A full display of toasted coconut and dark chocolate adds decadence to a sweet and caramelized perfume. Decadently sweet, rich and splashing against the early palate like brownie batter and chocolate syrup and candied coconut.
As the stout seeps into the tastebuds, the vast array of cocoa, vanilla cream and sweet nuttiness brings a sugary balance to the espresso roast and roasted walnut character. A sweet smokiness keeps the session as savory as it is sweet while hints of kahlua and bourbon provides a long late palate of mounds candy bars and almond joy.
Full, thick and plush with malt, the stout is pillowy, velvety and silky smooth, applying a fudge-like coat of malt on the tonge for a long and lavish aftertaste.
