Baklava is a new one to model a Pastry Stout after. It actually sounds really interesting, as most things do from Corporate Ladder. I’ve only had one other beer before, but it was also an out there idea that worked in execution. Let’s crack this one open and hope for the same
Pours completely pitch black with 2 fingers of creamy light brown head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
The honey is very evident in the nose, super sweet but wonderfully balanced by everything else. I’m picking up on aromas of sweet honey, burnt caramel, chocolate fudge, candied walnut, brown sugar, pistachio, creamy coffee, and vanilla ice cream
Things get much sweeter in taste, but it’s still damn good. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting sweet honey, marshmallow, burnt sugar, milk chocolate, raisin, praline pecan, pistachio, and vanilla. The swallow brings notes of sweet honey, red grape, brown sugar, milk chocolate, candied walnut, earthy cinnamon, baked apple, and burnt caramel
A medium full body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes quite sticky and sweet, it’s almosy mead-like with the sweetness
This is delicious but incredibly sweet. Getting though this whole bottle might be a task
