Its too bad that Elvis couldn't have stuck around to enjoy today's craft beer scene. Corporate Ladder has made a beer just for him. Brewed, barrel aged and jam packed with peanut butter, banana, coconut and marshmallow, this beer has us all doing that happy dance.
Very dark brown and only kept from black because of its creamy density, Barrel Aged Minority Opulent wastes no time seducing the senses with a bakery-fresh scent of chocolate, roasted nuttiness, candied coconut and bourbon spice. Unapologetically sweet, the thick maltiness saturates the tastebuds with toffee, peanut brittle, brownie batter ,french vanilla and coconut cream.
Clinging onto the tastebuds, the sticky-sweet flavors of malt is wrapped in cereal, cake batter and heavy cream with those not-so-subtle nuances of peanut butter, coconut and banana cream adding to the complex enormity of flavors. As suggestions of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, peppery whisky, coconut and bourbony warmth follow up the session, the taste is unwavering in its fade, much like chocolate desserts and milkshakes.
Cloyingly full, thick, chewy and dense, I'm surprised that the bottle doesn't come with a spoon. Where the stout is difficult to drink, its easy to taste. When opening this bottle be sure to have east village size of starving artists available to help out.
