a fresh hop ipa done with all wet amarillo. this was really the only hop forward beer i had in here, but like all their other beers, it was quite impressive. i generally do not love this hop by itself, i always think it needs a partner or two, but in this instance it seems pretty complete, packing some green bite, loaded with neat tropical fruit character, for me melon and mango really come out, and there is the big oily resinous texture that i like in these wet hopped beers. its also more well refined than a lot of others out there this fall, clean lines and nice proportions, not just hop soup, but a thoughtful, simple, cereal grain base, a dry finish but a bit of hop linger, and a very clean fermentation profile, which stands out here and almost makes this crisp for what it is. some dried flower notes, bright fresh orange, papaya and pineapple and tangerine, honey and hash oil, a light soapy lemony thing, and a dry medium body supporting it. this is a cool showcase of amarillo, seemingly better than it usually is, at least for my personal tastes, but the quality of the beer makes it that way. its just so expertly done, as all the beer here was. its also a real treat drinking fresh hop beer in this part of the world, the proximity to the hops gives it a huge advantage to start with. this was killer!
