Crowler purchased at the Cedar Mill Market of Choice. Poured into a British tulip-style crown half-pint glass.
Look:
Clear, deep reddish-brown color with amber highlights. A barely-controlled pour (the crowler was filled to the brim!) raises a finger-tall head of creamy ivory foam. The head dissipates quickly and leaves a few strands of lacing behind.
Smell:
Toasty, earthy dark malts laced with campfire smoke and some brown sugar. Light maple notes peek out underneath. The maple comes forward as the beer warms but never overwhelms the malt or smoke.
Taste:
Overall, a tasty balance of bready malt and clean, slightly tangy smoke. Notes of toasted brown bread, almonds and cashews, light brown sugar, maple candy, and a fleeting hint of sweet cherries. Mild earthy bitterness in the finish. Mellow smoke flavors are present throughout, and play nicely with the maple and semisweet malt in the lingering aftertaste.
Feel:
Medium-full body with soft carbonation and a warm, muted glow from the alcohol. Smooth and slightly chewy texture.
Overall:
Ferment Smoked Maple Brown Ale is a tasty balance of smoke and malt, with just enough maple to enhance them both. Sweet, but not too sweet. Smoky, but not one-dimensional. Another delicious display of skill with adjuncts from the folks at Ferment Brewing Company. Recommended.

Thanks to Kraus for grabbing this one for me. 16oz crowler (no date) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a nearly solid, (some translucence) dark brown color with about 5/8 inch of tan head that had low-moderate retention and very good lacing.
There was light smoke at the front of the nose, on top of some nice base malts. Not sure if I'm actually smelling maple, or if I've talked myself into it.
There was definitely some maple on the tongue, but not so much that it covered up the smoke and malt.
The body was nice; smooth and even, with some stickiness across the palate and a semi-sweet finish.
Drinkability was good, I wouldn't want two-in-a-row, but would drink it again.
Overall, a pretty nice brew. Maple is one of those flavors that can easily overpower other flavors, but is well used here. worth trying if you see it.
