A blend of rich malts from Germany and Rim Rock rye malt from Mecca Grade here in Oregon provide depth of flavor and color in this winter lager offering. Crystal and Hallertau Blanc hops lend an assertive snap, balance, and a beguiling, spicy finish.

Red, red, clear red color. Light head, no definitive aroma. First taste gives you a good dose of hop bitterness followed close on with a dry, punch of malt from the rye. Longish finish, no flaws.
This is a well crafted lager with enough body and taste to stand up to a damp, cold winter 's day.

Pours a lovely crisp clear ruddy amber. Good finger or two of creamy head that eventually settles. Mild lacing. Not much, but extant.
Lightly sweet malts with undeniable rye spice and a dull earthiness. Some light grass underneath.
Flavour is muted at first. A faint hint of sweetness to the malts, before it goes very dry and kind of loses depth. The bitter/spicy rye comes through and carries an earthy bitterness to the finish.
This is just what I was hoping I was grabbing when I saw it at the store. Bold rye, solid red/amber with the crisp cleanness of a lager.

Look: Crystal clear brick red in the glass and the pour kicks off a nice off-white head that builds up and settles to a lid, leaving good lacing behind
Aroma: Spicy rye, warmed NY rye bread, earthy and floral hop notes, and toasted cereal grains
Taste: Whoa, this is starting off strong. A huge hut of rye malt, rye bread, and grains kicks it off and immediately deepens. Floral hops pick up after they go back and forth for the spotlight with rye throughout before rye carries the load through the close
Mouthfeel: Light but full, very clean throughout, medium-high carbonation, and a clean and crisp finish with a little spiciness
Overall: This is a phenomenal beer. Along with all my “sucker” styles, I also have “sucker” ingredients and rye is at the top of that list so I had to try this and it’s ridiculously good and making me regret the fact I just bought a single. Tremendous rye presence and depth throughout and since it’s a lager, all focus is drawn to that component and these folks did an outstanding job in highlighting all of its subtle and spicy aspects well. Highly recommended

Can from Capitol Highway Deli Mart.
A gorgeous clear deep reddish brown with a dense, light brown head with good retention and lacing. The nose is surprisingly muted and soft, with soft bread, mildly spicy rye, light toast and a delicate hoppy bitterness. The palate opens clean, with mild toasty Vienna malt-like flavor, a light rye grainy note and soft breadt sweetness. Hop character is mild. Drying, mildly bitter with light hop flavor lingering. Lovely, creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Solid.
