Bonesaw Brewing Co. "Le Petit Démon"
16 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON 01/23/21 09:30". Sampled on 05/05/21
$4.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a hazy golden-orange body beneath a short cap of creamy white foam. The aroma is distinctly Belgian in character with clove, peppery & woody spiciness, apricot, sweetish grainy malt, and a hint of banana. Is there some vanilla? Not surprisingly the flavor follows. It's a little spicier than I thought it might be, and there's some minor acidity to it, both of which help to balance it along with a median bitterness. There's more to the fruitiness, some apple, pear, and perhaps some orange but that's about it; it's very much as the aroma suggests it will be. In the mouth it's medium-light in body and gently crisp. The head retention and lacing could have been better. I'm not blown away by it but it is a decent example of the style, and quite enjoyable.

This was the first beer from Bonesaw that I've ever had as I found it not too long ago up at Gary's in Wayne. It was nice not to have an IPA or something dark and heavy as this was very reminiscent of something from Ommegang that I would have enjoyed ages ago. While this was not the best example of a Belgian Blonde Ale that I've had, it was easily accessible and enjoyable without being too heavy or spicy!

The hue to this was a nice golden apple as there was a bit of that in the aroma as well. A thick, fluffy head topped this off but once it settled down, there wasn't much left on the glass as the lacing was spotty and quite sparse. Banana, cloves, yeast, and some floral notes could be detected in it's smell as the taste was quite typical and easygoing for a beer of this sort. Some grain, cereal, and wheat rounded out the flavor as this was moderately full and lively carbonated, which kept this about as light as could be. A hint of earthiness and farmhouse funk emerged in the aftertaste as this was very clean in the aftertaste, with a bit of bready spice lingering on the palate once this fully went down.

The amount of booze in this was spot-on as it was detectable, but not strong, and warmed me up just a bit on a cold winter's night. Canned on 9/23 of last year, this held up well as there wasn't any sediment to be seen throughout my session. A hint of sweetness made this fun as it checked off all the boxes for this style, and left me wanting to have more from Bonesaw - down to the Bobs-Burgersesque cartoon art on the label!

Has thin body with medium light carbonation
Aroma is yeast, banana, sugary banana bread, fliral, honey
Taste is mildly sweet, banana, banana bread, grain floral honey . Finishes with a dry earthy slightly bitter hop flavor.
The body was weak with the flavor and aroma being decent but not overwhelming.
Decent attempt at the style

Frothy bone white head, pretty much dissolves in a nanosecond. Light amberish color, there’s a very fine particulate visible, consistently produces a scattering of bubbles. Relaxed and generous nose of banana cream pie, bubblegum, poached apricots, stiffened by notes of wheat germ, quinine, something akin to charred grill fat. Medium-bodied, the carbonation shoots what it is through the mouth entry and then is gone. The flavors on the whole are sweet while the mouth texture dry. Peppery here, the graininess sweeter like cereal. Unchewed bubblegum, lower banana presence. Same mineral water aspect contributes to the dryness as well as crisper feel than anticipated. White orchard pit fruit. There’s a pleasingly expansive floral perfume through the finish. This is not a beer style I consume often but found this quite drinkable and not overly simple.
