Opaque dark brown, almost black color. Poured a medium, tan colored head that collapsed to medium sized bubbles and a thin skiff in a minute. Lots of bubbles hanging on the side of the glass, but too dark to see any bubble flow. Left a few small dots of lace.
Mild chocolate and dark roasted coffee scent with just a hint of something sharp. Mild dark roasted malt. Faint sweet, maybe even milky scent. Swirling the glass kicked up a strong barnyard for two or three seconds. This gave way to a much stronger graham cracker malt scent.
Very mild, watered-down flavor. Mild coffee and chocolate. Medium-light bitters that seemed to be part of the coffee flavor. Light sweet. Very light malt flavor. The aftertaste is a little more bitter, but again very watered-down. There is a mild coffee that slowly fades out over a minute or so.
Very light tongue tingling. Turned into a coarse bubbled foam. Somewhat oily, even gummy.
Very interesting "lite beer" take on a porter. Almost like a radler made with soda water instead of a sparkling lemon or grapefruit. I enjoyed it. My lower rating is due to this not being very close to the style.
