my first beer from these guys, who have recently started selling their beers along the front range. surprised to see something this generic be one of the ones everyone is going to get to know them for, just a mediocre amber here, nothing particularly special, unique, or awesome about it, seems about ten years late to the party, but whatever, the more the merrier right? its clear and deep in color for the style, shiny darker bronze appearance to it, short lived off white head from the tap. smells a little sharp to me, maybe fermented a bit warm, even a little amateur in something thats pretty basic, not a great sign, although i like the warming, baked sort of kilned malts to this, and the sweetness here is attractive in the aroma, very fall time to me. the flavor has a little chemical zizzle to it, a messed up fermentation it seems like, which is a shame, because i like the rest of the beer pretty well, a lightly sweet nutty profile to the grain, earthy and a little more robust than most, with light toffee, peat, and almond character to it. it feels a little thin too for the depth of flavor, a little more body would make this a better cold weather beer, although i like it finishing a little drier. they have some work to do on this, but i think the slightly fuller grain profile is nice. ill have to track down their ipa too. id also like to try it from the can or bottle, it could have been just a draft issue...

12 oz. Can
Poured into a DFH glass a nice amber color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, hoppy, some citrus. The taste is nice, malty, hoppy, with some citrus. Medium body, ABV is hidden nicely, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a tasty brew.
