From a 32oz crowler:
Appearance: Cloudy brown, wispy head.
Smell: Boozy, vanilla barrel aroma.
Taste: Sweet, big caramel flavor followed by big vanilla barrel flavor. Flat mouthfeel, very low carbonation but not coating.
Overall: While in town to visit family I picked up a crowler of barrel-aged barleywine from one of the two breweries close by. BA Jabberwocky is decent, but kind of jumbled. The barrel comes on pretty strong but seems to take over instead of meshing with the base beer. The mouthfeel is weirdly light feeling for a 12.5% beer. Interesting but not quite on point.
