Cerveza Sacromonte “1598”
33 cl brown glass bottle seemingly without production codes or freshness dating.
Notes: 100% barley malt with three types, and double fermentation.
Look: A hazy golden body is capped by a finger’s width of white foam. The head retention is good and the lacing is very good.
Smell: Citrus and pine over bready malt.
Taste: Lightly sweetish malt is threaded through with notes of apple from the yeast, and citrusy (orange, grapefruit) and softly piney hops. It’s firmly bitter and dry in the finish with earthiness and piney resins lingering. There’s a touch of acidity to it as well.
Feel: Medium bodied and crisp.
Overall: This is a decent enough beer with enough character to keep it interesting but it’s certainly not one of the best IPAs out there.
