Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a dark brown with a thin layer of tan head. Solid lacing. The nose is roasted malts, bread, oak, peanuts,
Taste is burnt wood, dark German bread, roasted malts, dark chocolate, slight toffee, and a bit of a dark fruit - prunes mostly. Rye spice comes through. Really nice overall.

Half pour at Pour Man's. Dark brown pour, patchy beige head. Roasty aroma, burnt toast. Taste is toasty with notes of chocolate, coffee and light bitterness.

This one pours a dark brown color. It actually has quite good clarity when held up to the light. Thick, frothy tan head forms on the beer, lingers for a few moments, then dissipates. Just a thin film remains on the top of the beer. Aroma has notes of dark malts, a hint of rye and pumpernickel bread, some light creamy notes, a touch of grassy hops. There is some roastiness to the aroma, but it's not too much.
Taste has notes of rye and pumpernickel bread with a strong grainy quality. Some grassy hops come through about midway through and linger into the finish. Light to mild bitterness. There is touch of roasted malt coming through but lacks that creamy note that was present on the nose. Feel is light, drinkable, and crisp. Moderate carbonation, with a semi-dry finish.
Overall it's a really nice Czech dark lager. very enjoyable to drink.

16oz undated can poured into a becher glass at just above fridge temp, no ABV listed on label. The beer pours opaque medium brown with light brown head. The head recedes to a thin ring and a few islands of head. Minimal lacing. The aroma is dark chocolate, licorice, and slight nuttiness. The taste is bittersweet roasted malt with coffee like notes up front before the dark chocolate and lighter malt notes hit on the finish. The bitterness here is roasted malt bitterness like you would get in a big RIS, with no real hop expression. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with just less that average carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, good. Definitely not a typical dark Czech lager nor a typical dark lager of any sort. It's different, it works, but it defies any set style.

Tons of roast character here. Nutty, light coffee dominates. There might be a little toffee as it warms. Very satisfying.

Draft at the brewpub. Medium brown body with a beige head. Taste is mild roasted malt with good hop balance. Very good beer and worth a second round.

Good roasted aroma and flavor. Good hop balance.
The head is lacking in structure. Very large cola like bubbles fade fast.
I'd say it's good but not great.
My second tasting of this is better than the first.
Maybe they are getting it dialed in?

Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into a pseudo pint glass. Im not at home so glassware is limited. No date stamp on the can, but does implore me to drink fresh.....
The beer pours a rich cola brown with a fluffy khaki colored head of 3 cm foaming up. This head sticks around throughout the sampling as a sturdy surface covering and windowpane lattice on sips and swirls.
The aroma is roasted malt and a bit of dark chocolate and a faint hint of molassess. No hop balance that I notice and as expected ABV hidden on the nose.
First sip reveals a light to medium body with smooth texture and gentle rolling carbonation. The beer feels very nice on the palate and beer drinks very easy.
Flavor is some roasted malt and a bit of dark chocolate up front. This does allow a hint of spicy and grassy hop to come through, but this gives way to roasted malt that lingers long after each sip.
ABV is hidden as expected and I enjoy this straight forward brew. Glad to have tried this one from a new to me brewery.
