This decadent malt forward lager is full bodied and semisweet with notes of caramel and toast. Doppelbocks were originally brewed by monks in Munich as a meal replacement during lent hence the nickname liquid bread.

A thanks to the man who added this beer, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a dark copper color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of bready malts. Taste is also bready malts, a touch of alcohol is present. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Pours a clear dark amber color, thin off-white head that fades. Toffee and caramel in the aroma. Similar taste but not overly sweet. Medium bodied.

Poured into a narrow imperial pint glass: color is amber, transparent, head is light tan with fine bubbles which presents 1/4 inch thick, not much lacing on glass.
Smell is a little subdued: notes of toast, caramel, vienna malt, grape nuts, grassy hops.
Taste is toast, bread, vienna malt, grape nuts, light boozy dryness, grassy hops.
Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate dry bitterness.
Overall a solid doppelbock - a little sharp in the mouthfeel (bitterness? boozy dryness?) but otherwise bready, malty goodness.

On the light side for a dopplebock, but that's ok.
The aroma is fantastic.
Nice 1 finger head.
To me, it reminds me of an Imperial Vienna Lager.
Toasty biscuits and dry.
As a beer, I love it, but not what I expected from a dopplebock.
I would drink the bejesus out of this beer.
Revisited 1yr later.
Just as I recall. Very nice copper color! Toast, biscuits, caramel, marmalade, malts galore with a very well balance of hops.
I really like this one a lot.

16oz undated can poured into a becher glass at fridge temp, no ABV listed on label. The beer pours bright medium amber with minimal khaki colored head. The head recedes to a thin ring and some tiny bubbles. The aroma is mild with sweet bread, burnt sugar caramel and nutty malt. The taste is semisweet toasted malt with nutty and caramel flavors interwoven before a moderately bitter, earthy finish. The mouthfeel is medium plus bodied with average carbonation and a semi dry finish. Overall, good. Clean and well balanced.

16 oz can
Glassware: 0.5 L glass fest mug
Temp at Pour: 58.5 F
Look:
Dark but clear copper with plenty of carbonation bubbles making their way to the top. The head is a light beige that starts out huge (half of the mug) but quickly fades to 2+ fingers. That fades to an inconsistent cover which starts to dissipate as the beer is consumed. Lacing is fine.
Smell:
Toasted grain and fresh bread. Very malty but not sweet.
Taste:
Just like the nose. Nice toasty grains and bready malt. Bready malts, not sweet ones. A faint hop bitterness appears in the background that provides a nice dryness. Finishes malty but dry with a slight bite. Makes one want another sip.
Feel:
Smooth but with a faint alcohol burn. Body is medium.
Overall:
This the 1st time that I have had this beer or heard of Pour Man's Brewing. The beer is like an amped up Oktoberfest/Marzen (such as Great Lakes Oktoberfest) with hops also amped up accordingly. There is a nice balance to the beer and it drinks quite well. It is a solid if uncomplicated Amber Doppelbock.

16 oz. can. Golden-brown color. Slightly thin mouthfeel but otherwise solid example of the style. Some sweetness with the malt and minimal hop presence; noticeable alcohol without being overwhelming.
