Visited Hermann Brewing Company last weekend with a party of 7. We had dinner reservations for Friday night, which turned out to be necessary despite the place not being crowded - they only seemed to have one table large enough to hold 7. We were seated immediately and perused the beer selections - they had 4 beers on-tap, listed here in order of my preference:
Summertime Stout - an above-average stout, good flavor and body.
Maibock - pretty enjoyable, and good for the style in my limited experience.
Red (guest from another brewery) - nothing special happening here.
Hermann Ale (APA) - not a lot of hop flavor, below average for an APA.
All in all I was not impressed by the beers, but the stout was good. The food was above average quality, and included some great German sausage. Pricing was reasonable on all items. We looked out back at the beer garden, which looked like it would be great on a cool summer evening. If you're in Hermann, the Brewing Company is definitely worth a stop. As for the other places in town, The Barrel Bar actually has a pretty good selection of German beers, and Simon's on the Waterfront had a tasty Boulevard Pale Ale among its 4 taps of swill - at only $2 a glass!

Hermann Brewing company is a little place. A very little place. Inside, it looks simply like a small town restaraunt. There's a bar that only seats a few, but it reminds me more of a pharmacy than a bar. Really nice homey feeling.
It appears that they only have three beers on-tap at any given time, when I was there, they were out of their APA (which sounded nice, Simcoe and Cascade) but had a pilsner (nice and fairly unique) a porter (a nice english-style porter, some diacetyl present, but I suspect that was the intent) and instead of their PA, they had the Katy Trail APA from flat Branch in Columbia.
I'm going to given them a 4 in selection primarily because I don't see how a place this small in a town this small could have more variety and still deliver freshness and quality.
Food was alright, though when we were there they were between lunch and dinner and there were only appetizers available.
All in all, a nice place with very good beer, at least in my limited experience. I'd like to get out there more often.
