Color is pale yellow, hazy and bubbly in appearance that pours with a finger and a half of loose and bubbly white colored head that has a poor retention to it and leaves nothing in the way of lacing on the glass.
Decent amount of aroma to it with a good amount of whit esters on the nose, some notes of pear, dandelions and cilantro with a lightly sweet smelling hint of wheat malt to it.
Faint fruity hints forward with a slight pear, apple flavor to it but not really getting much ginger or pepper flavor out of it.
Light bodied with a high amount of carbonation to it and a mild sweetness to it and slight wheat malt character to it with a hint of mineral water quality to it.
Finish is also pretty mild in flavor with a faintly earthy, bitter ginger peel and cilantro flavor with a trace of floral hops and a ghostly tingle of szechuan pepper on the back of the tongue that catches a bit in the back of the throat.
Over all a bit more subtle then I was expecting.

473ml can - the first release for one of the newest players in Edmonton's slowly evolving brew-scape. Made with ginger and Szechuan pepper.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale golden straw colour, with four fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat fizzy eggshell white head, which leaves a trail of island chain profile lace around the glass as it slowly seeps away.
It smells of earthy ginger root, bready and grainy cereal malt, some gentle yeastiness, an indistinct peppercorn essence, and ethereal leafy, musty, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, a subtle breakfast table wheatiness, faded ginger notes, an equally tamed earthy spiciness, yer standard yeasty character, and more well-understated musty, herbal, and dead floral hoppiness.
The carbonation is adequate in its palate-satiating frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and generally smooth, with only a minor hint of spice maybe taking a bit off of the top at this particular juncture. It finishes trending dry, the malt stepping back as the spices carry on in a mild lingering fervour.
Overall - this is a rather pleasant rendition of the base style, with the adjuncts enhancing, but never overtaking the experience. Full of flavour, crisp, and enjoyable to throw back as summer comes to a screeching halt (I don't care what the temperature is, my kid is starting school, and that's it for me).
