Poured from 330mL can into a tall kitchen glass. Best by 8/24/23. This is billed as an "Earl Gray Infused West Coast IPA" and is brewed with simcoe, centennial, amarillo, galaxy, and citra.
Appearance: medium-rich golden hue with a moderate-to-heavy haze and a thin layer of ivory foam atop. I like the color, but more head would be nice.
Smell: malty, citrusy, and, yes, very Earl-Gray-ey. The infusion absolutely nails the Earl Gray aroma, and however you feel about the wisdom of such a choice, it is definitely what it says on the tin.
Taste: it starts off with a slightly astringent tea character, but quickly shows a brighter, sweeter, juicy, citrusy side. This beer has started to grow on me. I'm not sure how it would stand up to repeated servings, but at 330mL, this is a damn fine IPA treat.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: a weird beer that I am nevertheless enjoying. Yeah, it's so weirdly dynamic, from the sort of musty tea-like start, to the boldly juicy middle, to the regular-IPA finish. Just a bizarre treat. Check it out.
