look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4
Appearance: Pours a completely dark, color with a massive tan head that lingers and laces the glass. SRM of 23. (4.25)

Aroma: Aromas of dark fruit and chocolate upfront, there’s orange and tropical fruits that mix with a sweet, dark mountain and chocolate underneath. (4.25)

Flavor: Flavors follow with dark fruits of citrus, orange, and tropical fruits. This balances with a sweet Rich chocolate note. Finishes with a dark mouth, tiny and somewhat better roast. The fruit lingers off the end. (4.00)

Feel: Medium body, appropriate, carbonation, slightly sweet and fruit soreness linger off the end. (3.75)

Compared to Little Thistle Mist & Shadow 2/26: Pours identical. Stronger aromas. More dark fruit, sweet chocolate. Less cocoa, dark malt, and roast.

Compared to Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel 4/26: Pours darker, milder aromas. More dark citrus fudge. Less tobacco, earth, dark fruits.

Compared to Fair State Black Pils 3/26: Similar pour, stronger aromas. Less dark grains. More dark chocolate and fruit. Sweeter

Overall: Cloak Of Feathers, a Cascadian dark lager. My first try at this. Google Gemini tells me this style is a beer style mix between a Schwarzbier and an IPA. Tons of dark fruit and tropical notes upfront. Mixes with sweet cocoa. A mild bitterness, but rather a sour fruitiness linger off the end. Interesting style. This is like Dark lager meets India Pale Lager. Not had anything quite like this. I may really enjoy this. For what it is, it's done very nicely. I think adding some west-coast hops here to add some piney bitterness rather than the sour juicy notes would make this even better. (Rating: 4.05)
