Pours a translucent amber, one might detect a tinge of light red or orange. Minimal head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring.
Aroma is fruity strawberry jam, a bit overly sweet. Do I also detect a bit of chocolate? Cream, could be attributed to marshmallow in here.
Taste is sour candy, fairly legit strawberry - not candied or aspartame so good. Sticky mouth (that jam feeling again). Not overly astringent as some sours, leans a bit towards a hoppy earth which keeps the sickly aspect at bay.
Sticky and fluffy aftertaste which can be again ascribed (at least in my mind) to the marshmallow. Full bodied for a sour, as it warms fruity taste leans towards orange, melon, juicier and less "jammy," more juice IPA.
Slight alcohol heat (8% is strong for a sour) adds nice late nuance. Heavier than a hard sparkling water that's for sure. Refreshing. I'm mostly surprised and intrigued by mix of ipa hoppiness and sweet sour blending. I think this what most places have been going for.
Got my first Iowa beer.
