Opaque black color with ruby highlights and a modest and short lived tan head.
The aroma is dark roasted malt, dates, figs, plums, molasses, dark chocolate, vanilla, and cinnamon, pepper, and possibly allspice.
The taste runs through the same elements but not necessarily in the same order, spices, molasses and fruits come first, then the roasted malt, chocolate and lactose. The finish dries out with the spices returning to dominance along with just a hint of alcohol, very interesting.
The body is full, decent carbonation level, velvety smooth, very drinkable.
Altogether, this is a very interesting, complex and enjoyable brew, best for after dinner sipping, take time to enjoy all the nuances, outstanding.

Pours black with a finger of khaki foam. Head bubbles away rather quickly to reveal a still looking liquid that forms small oily legs across the glass when swirled. Aroma leans into spices first. Roasty and toasty malts support vanilla, molasses, fudge, and light dark fruits, with the star of the performance being spices. Alcohol is a non-factor in the nose, setting the stage for a smooth drinking 12% ABV beer. Flavor profile hits, again, spices first. Roasty and toasty malts sit underneath. Complexity is driven up throughout the profile, rising in a crescendo that peaks near the final third. Those building notes come by way of vanilla bean, molasses, late fudge, and minor dark fruits and fig on the back. Lactose sugar is present throughout the profile, but becomes more apparent as the other notes fade out, exposing the base liquid - roasty & toasty malts, alongside lactose. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a very still effervescence. Texture has a light velvety grit to it. Overall, big time spices, with a smooth use of malts to build an endearing storyline from start to finish. Easy drinking despite being so heavy.
