"Aoltbeer is the historic beer of Munster. It matured on average for 15 months in red wine barrels. In this time the beer developed its fruity and wine-like character. In this small blend no. 10-2023 we harvested organic mirabelles from our orchard. Tastes acidulous, refreshing, and leaves a slightly jammy taste. Bottled Dec. 2022. 800 bottles. Best before 15-12-2032."
Poured from a 750ml bottle with a mirabelle (plum) on the label.
Slightly hazy sunburst golden with one finger of white head.
Nose is acidic with a stone fruit undercurrent. Interesting.
Mouthfeel is light-medium with limited carbonated influence.
Much like the 04-2022 blend, this beer is very lambic-esque. This version differs in that the mirabelles show up and contribute a certain subtle fruity sweetness to the base beer. Not that it could be identified as plums, mind you, but the sweetness is definitely there and, I believe, it adds another level of complexity and drinkability to the beer.
Very well done beer. Damn near perfect.
