Appearance - Pours black with cola brown edging and a light tan, quarter finger width head. Sub-par retention results in a thin, broken layer of suds with a thin ring that clings to the edge. A few small spots here and there make up the lacing.
Smell - Hazelnut and vanilla stand out in the aroma, with a bit of chocolate and coffee laying beneath.
Taste - Sickly sweet at first with loads of vanilla and generic sweetness crashing down on the palate. Cloying and almost undrinkable, but it gets better and more rounded as it warms. Once warmed close to room temp, the sweetness still hits first, but then a hint of hazelnut and chocolate emerges by mid-taste. Finish is a bit disjointed, as sweetness is still strong but butts heads with a touch of burnt coffee flavor.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with low carbonation. Slick, with a hint of creaminess. Slightly dry finish.
Overall - Good idea in theory, but they need to take this one back to the drawing board. It's so sickly sweet it almost tastes like artificial sweetener was used.
